off center

you ever feel off center? i don't know if it's still tyi jetlag or the fact that pulling myself out of bed this morning was a seemingly impossible task.

last night we celebrated my dad's birthday. we got him an iPOD... and then had to explain to him what it was. my dad was a dj back in the sixties or "station manager" as we are often reminded. it's like that era with all of the unrest and war and screams for peace surrounded him, and everyone found release in the music of that day. all that to say, he has something like 500 cds, so the iPOD, though he wasn't sure exactly what it was, is an ideal gift for him. he can make his own mixes. just like way back when.

and then for me:

I ask You,
humbly,
and from the bottom of my heart:
Please, God,
would you write straight my crooked lines?
Out of the serious mistakes of my life
will You make something beautiful for You?

Teach me to live at peace with You,
to make peace with others
and even with myself.

Give me fresh vision. Let me
experience Your love so deeply
that I am free to
face the future with a steady eye,
forgiven,
and strong in hope.

Hey Kel - anxious to hear about TYI from you. The iPod thing with you dad is great. The irony for me is that I DO know what one is but had to explain it to my son. How crazy is that?! - Debby

I am on a journey, searching for God and what that means in my daily life. It's not about constraints, it's not about limitations, but freedom. I know something exists beyond the visible. I live thinking about possibilities and what could be and the necessary steps to make things happen. I like long talks with a good friend, drinking tea, eating breakfast with my husband, going to a bookstore (they are the new libraries), cool mornings, windy days in the fall, learning about love and life from those who seem to have found their way, teenagers, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, long baths, and connecting with another heart. I am learning how to love, how to live, when to speak and when not to, when it's time to gather the stones, when it's time to let go, surrender, forgiveness, and discipline.
