indigo girls are in the air... "..so you know you're all right. lives will come and lives will go. soon you'll feel it's all right, you just got a letter that goes straight to your soul. when your whole life is on the tip of your tongue, empty pages for the no longer young, the apathy of time laughs in your face. did you hear me say? 'each life has it's place...' "

and i look around and people are driving in their cars. or having lunch. or shopping. at the deli today, one of the ladies in the booth behind me said, "i'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather." i turned around to see she was on her cell. so i returned to my baked potato.

"how was your weekend?"

"what?" i reply somewhat distracted.

jake has been a great source of comfort as he lays against me on the couch and follows me as i move about, room to room. i hope dogs do go to heaven.

breathe in, breathe out.

on the one hand, that flicker has been fanned into somewhat of a nice fire. big enough to cook a meal on, at least. and i've been chewing on that for a few hours now. with a bit less enthusiasm.

jason has been writing this whole thing on prayer, so it's been a conversation piece for several weeks now. we were driving on henderson mill the other night talking about the different takes authors have when they write on prayer. this one was interesting:

try praying without using words.

hmm.. i like it. so often i can't even think of what i want to say. words become the battle and so i give up.

and for what it's worth from a complete stranger, i'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. jake sounds like a good friend to help you through it as only man's best friend can.

i'm convinced that all dogs are made for heaven. they absorb too much of us in their relatively short lives. i have nothing to back my theory up.. just a hunch. i see a soul in those eyes.

peace as you navigate through this time. glad i found your site.

I am on a journey, searching for God and what that means in my daily life. It's not about constraints, it's not about limitations, but freedom. I know something exists beyond the visible. I live thinking about possibilities and what could be and the necessary steps to make things happen. I like long talks with a good friend, drinking tea, eating breakfast with my husband, going to a bookstore (they are the new libraries), cool mornings, windy days in the fall, learning about love and life from those who seem to have found their way, teenagers, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, long baths, and connecting with another heart. I am learning how to love, how to live, when to speak and when not to, when it's time to gather the stones, when it's time to let go, surrender, forgiveness, and discipline.
