Hilton Hullabaloo

for some reason last night (maybe due to apathy, maybe due to our lack of cable) I came across the reality (is this stuff ever really reality) show Who Wants to be a Hilton?

if anyone was able to catch this show, i have got to say that i have not laughed so hard in quite a while. after completing "tasks" the two teams were to arrive in central park.

the team that lost then met kathy hilton, mom of the acclaimed paris and nicky (she must be so proud) in her personal residence. there, kathy listened to the team rant about who should be sent home before she told them she would choose one person to leave and the team would vote another member off. it was pretty clear who the team wanted to kick off the island, the vegas showgirl from europe was getting on everyone's last nerve. she and the only team member she had befriended ( a former miss tampa) were the likely candidates to go. while the vegas showgirl pleaded her case to kathy hilton, telling her how much she looked up to her status in society, her family, her life, miss tampa broke out into song singing "Wind Beneath My Wings" to mrs. hilton.

at that moment i realized why she did not go on to win miss florida.

and that changed the tide of the team, b/c then they voted and miss tampa was sent home. i found it interesting that instead of the "your fired" or "your torch has been extinguished" the line sending them on their way was "you're not on the list."

why was i watching this?

I am on a journey, searching for God and what that means in my daily life. It's not about constraints, it's not about limitations, but freedom. I know something exists beyond the visible. I live thinking about possibilities and what could be and the necessary steps to make things happen. I like long talks with a good friend, drinking tea, eating breakfast with my husband, going to a bookstore (they are the new libraries), cool mornings, windy days in the fall, learning about love and life from those who seem to have found their way, teenagers, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, long baths, and connecting with another heart. I am learning how to love, how to live, when to speak and when not to, when it's time to gather the stones, when it's time to let go, surrender, forgiveness, and discipline.
