We're homeowners!

It all happened yesterday with the signing of a million documents and the shaking of a lot of hands. We'll begin the cleaning this evening, and the painting on Saturday.

Above all else, I am aware of the greatness of God. Such a long and complicated process, with many financial crises happening in between, but he prevailed. The community we are moving into is not a nice one. It is a community that is desparately crying out for Jesus, though they may not know it. They are broken and disconnected. The solution when problems arise often results in violence which was recognized last week when a police officer was gunned down in the area.

But the people need evidence of hope. Beauty from ashes, dancing from mourning, and life from death. Who's speaking life into their seemingly hopeless siutations? And will it be me?

"Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live..."

kel, congratulations on your new home! big step, but such a good one. it's awesome to hear about your neighborhood and how you and jason are striving to witness to the broken and disconnected.

hmm. disconnected....that word seems to describe so many these days. in any case, so cool that you all are ministering through your home in a "not so nice" community....how often do we all make decisions to dwell in nicer, safer, prettier areas with a nearby target and a low crime rate?

anyway. got your email about the spiritual formation website and checked it out a bit. it looks great! and i am excited to see book recommendations up there, because i am always looking...hope you and jason are doing well and that y'all have fun painting this weekend!

I am on a journey, searching for God and what that means in my daily life. It's not about constraints, it's not about limitations, but freedom. I know something exists beyond the visible. I live thinking about possibilities and what could be and the necessary steps to make things happen. I like long talks with a good friend, drinking tea, eating breakfast with my husband, going to a bookstore (they are the new libraries), cool mornings, windy days in the fall, learning about love and life from those who seem to have found their way, teenagers, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, long baths, and connecting with another heart. I am learning how to love, how to live, when to speak and when not to, when it's time to gather the stones, when it's time to let go, surrender, forgiveness, and discipline.
