This past weekend we headed down to Lakeland, Florida for ROOTS. Jason and I helped out with the teen venue. We had a Q&A session with the teens, and it turned out to be a highlight of the weekend. Teens have some serious questions, and no one seems to address them. We had each teen write down one question, about anything they wanted to talk about. It could be spiritual or about life, anything.
And then we answered them... to the best of our ability. Jason would draw one out of the basket, and then I would. Some of them were funny, many of them seeking. Here are a handful of the ones that were asked:
Why do we celebrate Christmas?
How do you remain pure and stay celebate before marriage?
Why are you a Christian?
Do you love Jesus?
Why is there more talking than singing in all of the meetings? (smile)
How do you convert a homosexual friend?
If Satan repented, would God redeem him?
Why do we do works? Is it just to display our servanthood?
Why don't we play more games?
Why does God take people (die) at such a young age?
It was truly a challenge to be in front of the thirty or so teenagers and field a menagerie of questions, without having much time to prepare for each one. But it went pretty well. And I think it showed me how deep teens are, and how they struggle with so much.
It was a good weekend, all in all. I wished that I could have attended more of the adult sessions, b/c I feel like I needed that feeding. But it was nice to be with the teens.
Most of all, and this was the best part of the weekend, I got to see Heather!! We were so wrapped up in all of the leading we had to do with the teen venue, our time with Heath was short, and I sooooo wished it could have been longer. Miss her dearly.
And then back to my less than exciting life in Atlanta where I work at a bank. Does money really matter?

A couple of things, Kelly. First, I believe God ALWAYS answers. He doesn't necessarily answer in our time frame or with the answer we may want or expect but he will answer specifically for you and your needs.
Money matters to the extent we allow it to. What matters in your job is how you represent Christ.
Finally, what a great experience to be able to share with that group of teenagers. I hope there were a few answers that you were comfortable enough to say you didn't know the answers to because we don't always. I like that people are more accepting of that today, or maybe it just comes with age :)
So good to hear how things went. - Debby
